Gayle Stanley Albritton passed away on January 16, 2011, at the age of 92 in Katy, Texas.Gayle was born at Kerens, Texas on December 15, 1918, to Minor Reed Albritton and Beatrice Eurena Westbrook.
He had four brothers (William, Kelly, Reed and Posey) who all preceded him in death.
Gayle Albritton proudly served as a sergeant with the 36th "Texas" Division in the US Army during WWII, earning a bronze star for valor. He loved to tell old war stories about walking across North Africa and Europe. He was also called to serve in Korea at the mature age of 35.
Upon his return from Europe, he married Lucille Walker in 1945 and had three sons: Keith, Paul (d. 1993) and David.
After living in Minden, LA, the Albrittons moved to Waxahachie then to Lewisville, TX in 1956. Lucille passed away in 1966 after 21 years of marriage.
Gayle then married Estelle Bacon in 1967, adding her three sons to the family: Jack, Jeff and Jerry Suggs. Estelle passed away in 2005 after 38 years of marriage.
He owned and operated the Western Auto store located on Main Street in downtown Lewisville, TX from 1956 to 1977.
After retiring, he relocated to Highland Village, Granite Shoals, Waco, Sanger and Katy, all in Texas. His favorite pastime in retirement was traveling in his Winnebago around the Southwest, eating at Cracker Barrel and visiting friends and family.
Survivors include two sons, 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service with military honors will take place at 2 p.m. on January 29, 2011, at Old Hall Cemetery in Flower Mound, Texas.
