George Washington Davis was the son of Prior P Davis and Nancy. He was married to Mary Eliza Macklin which she is said to be of Cherokee descent. They had 10 children: Samantha Emeline, George Lawson, Nannie C., Charles Lavan, Bruce Shackfield, Clack Walton, Lucious Ollie, Mary Jane, Frank Meredith, and Vianna Vergie Davis.

George Washington and Mary E. McLin Davis were the parents of 11 children; Samantha, William Andrew, George Lawson, Nannie c., Bruce Sackfield, Charles LaVan, Clack Walton, Mary Jane, Frank Meridith, Lucins Olive, and Vivian Virgie. They moved from Marshall Co., TN in 1879 when Lucins Ollie was six weeks old.

Family ledgen is Mary Eliza had ordered the two trees in Minor Hill cemetery for her yard, but died before they arrived and the family set them out near her grave. One has been cut down now.
