Pioneer Oregon City Resident Dies in Hospital
Mrs. Llewllyn Chase (Ina M.) Adams, 921 Center Street, Oregon City, died Tuesday afternoon in an Oregon City hospital following a second stroke.
Mrs. Adams was born in Oregon City in the old Chase home located on the river where the Pantorium Cleaners now stands. She had lived in Oregon City all her life. On August 5, 1903, in the Chase home located at the top of the elevator, she was married to L. Adams. They lived in the Chase Home until July 24, 1924, when they moved into the home on Center Street.
The daughter of pioneer parents, her father, James Winslow Chase, came across the plains to Oregon in 1851 when he was 10 years old. Her mother (Sarah Stevenson) came across the plains with her family when she was 11 years old.
One of six children, Mrs. Adams is survived by one sister, Mrs. Arthur C. Howland. Surviving also are three nieces, Miss Elizabeth Howland, Eugene; Miss Judith Hedges, San Francisco; Mrs. Barbara Bodenschatz, Oakland; two nephews, James Howland, Corvallis and Evan Chase, Portland.
Mrs. Adams was a member of Atkinson Memorial Congregational Church, its Ladies Aid Society and the Saturday Club. She was a member of the Oregon City Woman's Club and the Derthick Club.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 PM in the chapel of Holman-Hankins-Rilance Mortuary. Rev. Horace Bachelder, paster of Atkinson Memorial Congregational Church will officiate. Internment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
