SAN ANGELO Georgia Lea Caffey, age 74, completed her earthly journey Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, with her family by her bedside. She was born on April 24, 1935, in Water Valley, Texas to Wynona Allard Garner and Clarence W. Garner. She attended school at Water Valley and competed in several sports for the Lady Wildcats. She married Delbert Caffey in June of 1955 and stuck with him for more than 54 wonderful years. She was blessed with 2 precious daughters, 5 wonderful grandchildren and 2 beautiful great-grandchildren, all of whom she devoted her whole life to with unending love. She loved all of God's creation, especially her horses. She was baptized at Water Valley Baptist Church and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for forty years. She was a devout Christian and a prayer warrior for anyone in need. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, C.W. Garner; a sister, Barbara Goad; stepmother Lois Stinson and husband Jeff; and a special nephew, Derrick Thorp. Survivors include her husband, Delbert Caffey; daughters Debra Burger and husband Ken of Keller, Texas and Charla Waren and husband Joe of San Angelo; grandchildren Brian and Mandi Meurer of Euliss, Texas, Teri (T.J.) Woodard of Kellen, Texas, Michael and Courtney Waren of San Angelo, Melissa Kinney and husband Justin of Lubbock, Texas, great-grandsons Landon and Logan Waren of San Angelo; a sister, Sherry Thorp and husband Daulton; brother William Garner and wife Desiree'; stepbrother Steve Stinson and wife Connie all of Grand Prairie; a very special Aunt Patsy Baker of Grape Creek, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends who she loved so very much and who loved her. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jim Wilkerson officiating. A burial will immediately follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jack Pool, Robert Rogers, Wayne Baker, Mack Baker, Al Wilson, Larry Yarbough and Daulton Thorp. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Pool of San Angelo, Bob Puckett of Comanche, Texas and Otis Cowan, Jr. of Amory, Miss. In lieu of flowers the family ask that you make donations to Georgia's favorite charities; Hillcrest Baptist Church, Meals for the Elderly and Hill Country Youth Ranch, Ingram, Texas. The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Chang for his tireless and loving care during her illness. "To God be the glory." You gave us love and brought happiness beyond measure. Your beautiful smile will always be remembered by everyone who knew you. The old gospel hymn says it best, "We will meet you in the morning."
