James Lonzie Beaty Jr was the son of James Lonzie, and Lillian Young Beaty. He was a retired Public Servant of the Tennessee State Government. He was a Tennessee State Trooper from 1957 - 1991 retiring with the rank of Sergeant. He was sheriff of Pickett County Tennessee 1994 -1998 when his health declined. He was well thought about and Pickett County named the road which ran by his residence after him He was the father of two sons Jimmy and Toby Beaty who also became state troopers and three daughters. Melinda Jamie Beaty who was fatally injured as a child when struck by a car in February 1965 in Byrdstown Tennessee. Two living daughters Melissa Beaty Poston and Brooke Beaty Masiongale. His wife Janet Ford Beaty and several grandchildren and one great grandchild. Four brothers Jerry Beaty,Jess Beaty,Joe Beaty and Ray Beaty. One sister, Beverly June Beaty Williams. He is buried in the Beaty Family Cemetary in the Popular Cove community of western Fentress county where he was born and raised located five miles west of Jamestown,Tennessee off State Route 52
