Daughter of W L Carruth
Mary Lucille Carruth Barton, 58 years old, formerly an instructor at Fairmount College and also at Mt. Carmel, died at her home, 1340 North Lorraine Avenue, Wednesday, after a lingering illness.
Mrs. Barton taught English and German at Fairmount College for two years and later finished a semester at Mt. Carmel. She wa a charter member of the Central Congregational Church in Topeka where she was born. She attended Washburn College and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1901. Following her graduation she taught in the Arkansas City High School for four years. In 1905 she married James Barton and they resided in Enid, Okla., for 12 years before coming to Wichita in 1917. They then moved to Pratt, Kas., and lived there three years before returning to Wichita.
Mrs. Barton was a member of the Fairmount Library Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Albert, Carruth and Roy, all at home; and a brother, Dr. Howard Carruth, Portland, Ore.
Burial will be in WichitaPark Cemetery. Lahey and Martin Mortuary is in charge.
