Jesse Silas Penny Bolsinger was the last child of (10th of ten), William Bolsinger and Sarah Price, ( her mother was Winifred Peters). They moved to Johnstown when he was a small boy. In his early years in Johnstown, he was engaged with his faher and a brother in the drug business. When the Civil War began he enlisted in the Union cause, August 4, 1861, in the Pennslyvania Calvary, participating in two heavy engagements and minor Engagements. He was mustered out on May 1862, on account of disability.
Upon his return from service he located in Cherry Tree. He married Irene Bell McCormick 19 Dec 1869 in Cherry Tree, Indiana Co. PA. She was born 5 Apr 1848 in PA. and died 18 Nov. 1918 in Ebensberg, Cambria Co.' PA.
(She was the daughter of Capt. Robert McCormick, a captain in the Civil War and Ellen. Capt. Robert was later well known lumberman, being a member of the St. Lawrence Lumber and Boom Company. He served in the Seventy-eighth Pennsylvania Regiment (Company H.) as a captain through the entire war. He represented Indiana County in 1868.)
In Cherry Tree Jesse engaged in the tinner's business, remaining until 1870, when they moved to Ebensberg, PA. For a number of years he was connected with the plumbing business. He was a Democrat. He was a member of the Presbyterian church; also the Odd Fellows order and the Grand Army of the Republic. He and Irene had eight children; Harry D., Edgar M.(b. 870), Milton H.( b. 10 Mar. 1872), Walter Neff, (b. 14 Aug 1873), Sarah Eleanor, (b. 1875), Robert J. (b. 11 Oct. 1878), Raymond C. b. 18 Feb 1884) and Esther L. (b. 1890).
