Martha Elizabeth Cantrell was the eldest child of Edward H. Cantrell and Sarah Hayes. She had three brothers and four sisters. They were; Sherman, Rose, William, Verda, Clara, Florence, and Elbert. Her mother died in 1901 when Martha was 22 yrs. old and the youngest sibling was 6. Just seven months after her mother died Martha married a Roy Floyd. The marriage was short-lived with Roy leaving. Age may have been a factor as she was very young and her father may not have given consent. There was conjecture that he was a cousin, but research hasn't proven this claim. Her only comment was that he had desreted her. Martha took on the maternal role to her siblings. She remained in this role as the pivital person in her siblings lives until her death. In 1903 the father moved his family to Lester, Washington where he and Sherman worked as loggers and Martha and Rose cooked for the loggers. She married George Elliott Bolsinger on 23 Jun 1913 in Tacoma Washington. They had two children; Melvin and Dorothy. Besides being a good homemaker, growing her gardens, canning and child care she was a very influential person in her church and community. She was honored on October 18th, 1942 by members of the Manitou Park Presbyterian Church with a recording into the session of her contribution to the church which included her role in establishing the church; in paying off the mortage; being President of the Ladies' Aid for many years and her emotional support to members of the church and the community. Many years later the Manitou Community of those years would have a reunion. When her named was mentioned it was with the greatest respect. It was said that she lived her Christian faith and never a bad thing was said by her of anyone. At 50 yrs. old she suffered a stroke which left her legs paralyzed and wheel chair bound. She continued to be active cooking until a final stroke when she was 58 years old. She is buried next to her husband, her father and her daughter and son-in-law.
