Barbara Ann Alexander, 75, passed away Sunday December 7, 2008 in the company of her family at the Connecticut Hospice. Mrs. Alexander was born February 13, 1933 in New Haven, CT to the late Nellie & William Moore. She was a graduate of James Hillhouse High School and was a devoted member of Varick AME Zion Church, New Haven. Barbara's prior work experience included UI Company and former Dixwell community companies, The Capitol Market and Proctor's Drug Store, retiring early to be a homemaker for providing and supporting a loving and very spiritually guided family structure for her daughters and husband. Barbara was the widow of Elijah Roy Alexander and leaves to cherish her memory; 2 daughters, Marcia (Michael) Majors and Margo Alexander both of New Haven; Sister, Ms. Geraldine Moore, New Haven; 2 Grandchildren, Jason and Tyler Majors and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by 1 brother, James Moore and 5 sisters, Dorothy White, Beatrice Douglas, Josephine Neal, Bille Walker and Sandra Gilmore.

A celebration of her life will be held Thursday December 11, 2008 at 11 AM at Varick AME Zion Church 242 Dixwell Ave, New Haven with a calling hour at 10 AM. Interment will be Hamden Plains Cemetery.
