T.J. Alexander died at his home on College Street last Saturday, after an illness of some months with heart trouble. He had a number of severe attacks during the past few months and his passing was not unexpected.

T.J. Alexander was born May 1st, 1854, a son of James and Susie Alexander. He married Miss Emily J. Goddard on February 29, 1880, from which union two children were born, one dying in infancy, the other, Mrs. T.S. Wright, of Handley, Texas survives. Mrs. Alexander died some years ago and he then married Mrs. Frona Baker Gregory, who survives him. He is also survived by two sisters - Mrs. Cox, of Cooper; and Mrs. Sallene, of Texas; and two brothers - Joe and Isaac Alexander.

For many years Mr. Alexander operated the Fewston Tavern on the west side of the public square. He also operated a freight line and freight depot here for many years. He retired from the business a few years ago and purchased the F.M. Lee property on College Street and a lot of land adjacent which he farmed and converted a part into the Alexander Cemetery. He was an elder in the Christian Church for many years and for the past several years has occupied a similar position in the Church of Christ. He was always a leader in all church and Sunday School work and devoted a great deal of time to the development of Sunday Schools out in the county. He was a splendid citizen and will be greatly missed by his many friends.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.H. Baugh, of Hustonville, a former pastor of the Christian Church and a personal friend of the deceased for many years. The remains were taken to the Alexander Cemetery for burial.
