Jay Densmore Babcock, 30, of Battle Creek, died Thursday, April 23, 2009. He was the son of Bruce and the late Sharon Babcock. He was born November 7, 1978, in Honolulu, Hawaii and lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan, prior to moving to Battle Creek, in 1984.
Jay was an Artist, he enjoyed drawing and wood carving. He was a participant in the Arts and Industry Council. He was also involved with Community Inclusive Recreation.
Survivors include his father, Bruce (Deborah) Babcock of Plainwell; sister, Tera (Kelly) Grinnell of Morrice, stepsisters, Sarah Marshall and Lee Ann (Richard) Vanderhoff, both of Plainwell; and maternal grandfather, Paul Gauwitz of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Babcock, September 15, 2002.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, at T M Hughes-Perry Mortuary. A memorial celebration will be held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at T M Hughes-Perry Chapel, with Pastor Mark Hopper of the Potters House, officiating.
