Barbary Beerwort was the daughter of Johannes Mock, a Loyalist from Rensselaer Manor NY who settled at St. Armand, Quebec in 1780. His daughter Barbara was born on 14 March, 1760 and died on 18 April, 1840 as her stone indicates. Her husband, Johannes Bierwirth (Beerwort) was a Hessian soldier who chose to remain in Canada in 1784, rather than be shipped back to Germany. He was granted 100 acres of land on 18 October, 1789 at Caldwell's Manor, now Noyan, Quebec (a few miles West of Clarenceville). Johannes was probably born ca. 1740 and died about 1819 since he had seen almost "fourscore years in the land." Contributed by fifth great grandson Bernard Young. [email protected]
