Mildred Koons Benedict was the daughter of Frank Bahner Koons and Nellie Beulah(Snively) Koons, husband of D. Marion Benedict and mother of eight children. Mildred lived her early life on a farm near Aunt Kate's swimming hole, south of Waynesboro near what is now the corner of Lyons Road and Goods Dam Road. Most of the remainder of her life was spent on the farm in Quincy Township where she raised her family.
She came of age during the depression, and learned the value of hard work and making do; all the while maintaining a generosity of heart that was felt by all who knew her. She was a beloved wife and mother, and is dearly missed.
