Miss Frances Miriam Coleman, 92, of Paris died Monday, January 23, 1995, at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, in Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gaither L. Day officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will be at their residences. Miss Coleman was born December 6, 1903, in High, Lamar County, a daughter of George Thomas and Roberta Jennings Coleman. She attended First Ward School, Miss Madge Seckel's Private School, Paris High School, Ward-Belmont College in Nashville, TN, and Paris Commercial College. She was a clerk in the finance department and chief telephone operator at Camp Maxey until it closed. She was with Paris Milling Company for 27 years, until retiring April 13, 1973. From 1937-1943, she served as executive secretary of the Texas Federation of Business and Professional Women's Club, Inc. She was a charter member of the Paris Business and Professional Women's Club which was formed in 1927. She was the club's first recording secretary and served as district director in two districts. She was named 'Woman of the Year' by the club in 1956. She also assisted in organizing the Altrusa Club in Paris. She had served on the board of the Salvation Army, was a steward on the Administrative Board at First United Methodist Church where she was also a member of the Builders class, and had been on the boards of the Cancer Society, Tuberculosis Association of Lamar County, and Chamber of Commerce. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her devoted caregiver, Gracie Johnson of Paris. Named as pallbearers are Bob Coleman, Michael Murphy, Dave Whittingham, Robert Parker, Bobby Hargroves, Norman Montgomery, Hardy Moore and Dr. Gabe Coleman.
