Phillip Brice Bocher, 87, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2001, in Tallahassee, Fla. Phillip was born Sept. 27, 1913, in Green Valley, Wis. to the late Louis and Harriet (Hanson) Bocher.
He graduated from Laona High School and the University of Wisconsin, Madison School of Commerce. A veteran of World War II, he retired from the United States Navy and was also retired as Vice President of Florida National Bank in Jacksonville, Fla.
On Feb. 20, 1943 he married Charlotte Elizabeth Harris in Cambridge, Mass. After he returned from England in 1945 they resided in Jacksonville, Fla. He was a longtime communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, where he also served as treasurer for over 40 years.
Phillip was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Charlotte Bocher, his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Katherine Bocher and two nephews.
He is survived by two sisters, Jean (Darol) Johnston, Fairbury, Ill.; Lucille (Norbert) Stauber, Laona, Wis; seven nephews, eight nieces. He is also survived by his guardian and caregiver, Madeline Shepard, Tallahassee, Fla., who gave him such loving care during his last years when he suffered from dementia due to a debilitating stroke.
Family and friends gave thanksgiving for his life at a graveside service June 2, 2001 where he was laid to rest beside his beloved wife Charlotte at Greenlawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, Fla.
