Born in Franklin, Texas October 19, 1918, the youngest of five children to Fletcher D. and Rosa Lee Andrues. Fletcher passed away Monday, August 30, 2010, in Houston, Texas at the age of 91.
Mr. Andrues was a star athlete earning an athletic scholarship to Howard Payne University. He decided to leave college and ended up enlisted in the United States Army Air Force serving in the Asia Pacific Theatre of World War II. He was awarded five bronze stars for bravery and meritorious service.
Upon returning from military service he decided to further his education and enrolled in Texas A&M completing his BBA in Marketing in two years by taking twenty-eight hours in one semester. He graduated in 1952. After graduating, he lived in Houston, Texas and was employed by Sperry Univac when he transferred to Beaumont, Texas in 1956. There he met and married Eunice Day and started a family. In 1965 he founded Better Business Machines. In the mid 1980s at the age most people are retiring he decided to expand his business into the micrographic and copier business. After many years as a top Minolta dealer he was offered to sell his company to Pitney Bowes in 1999. He continued working as a consultant until age 83 and only then deciding it was time to retire.
Mr. Andrues loved sports of all kinds and would never hesitate to leave work early to watch one of his sons participate. He also volunteered many hours to local Beaumont little leagues. His proudest accomplishment was his family and seconded by his extended family of loyal employees. His favorite saying: "Eat right, sleep right, exercise and pray".
Survivors include his sons, Tim Andrues and Paul Andrues and his wife Shelly; stepdaughter, Carol Corbin; granddaughter, Bethany; and nephew, Fletcher D. Andrues III.
His wife, Eunice Day preceded him in death.
His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with Dr. James Fuller of Calder Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Broussard's.
