Wiley was born in Tuscaloosa Co., AL his father moved north to Lincoln Co., TN in about 1859.
The Civil War broke out some time later and his father Coleman was in the Civil war.
It was family stories that said Wiley was some sort of Gerilla fighter on horse back at a very young age. It may have been he was what some called a bush wacker , a name given to young men who would hit and run the Union Troops.There is a picture of him in a Confederate Uniform that he wore when he was feeling no pain. I was said he always carried a cap and ball pistol with him and rode a horse everywhere until he was very old.
Wiley was married severl times . Said he had that deep southern gentelman talk and swager. It appeas so with all the marriages.The family of late only thought he was married twice until I started finding marriage licenses all over the place. Boy were they surprised.
Wileys wives were Eliza Watkins, Susannah Summerford, Mary Bell Green, Eliza Tucker, Martha Baily, Mary E Woods Houck, then went back and remarried Martha Baily . There was a Narcisses on the 1920 Census who was listed as his wife but never found any conformation of it. Never found where he was listed as in the Civil War at this time.
Wileys marriage to Mary Elizabeth Woods Howk produced one child , a son John Otto Rogers. This marriage did not last long . The son was born in Gober TX and was always told by his sisters that his father died before he was born and that he was named after his father. None of this was true but it took me 29 years to find this out. Startng the quest in 1971 and finally found out who my grandfather was in 1998. John was happy but sad finding out his sisters lied to him all those years.
Wiley had a large number of children that we know of and probably some not known.

Wiley died when at his son Arthur's place he was burried near Kemp Kaufman Co., TX no one at this time knows which or where he was burried . There was no marker
