ELDER ROBERT (BOB) GLENN DICKERSON, JR. Elder Robert (Bob) Glenn Dickerson, Jr., 83, of Valdosta passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2014 due to an automobile accident.

He was born October 5, 1930 to the late Judge Robert Glenn Dickerson, Sr. and Julie Adams Saunders Dickerson. He was a longtime minister with the Primitive Baptist Churches and was a member of Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church where he served as pastor for 30 years. He also pastored Unity Church for 27 ½ years, New Friendship for 20 years, Bethel for 8 years and Cool Springs of Greenville, SC for 2 years. Elder Dickerson was co-editor of the Banner Herald and Editor of the Gospel Appeal for 30 years. He served on the Board of Trustees of the Primitive Baptist Library in Elon College, NC. While pastoring small country churches he was he was co-owner of Dickerson Mullis Insurance Agency, co-owner of AMC Jeep Dealership and retired from his accounting and income tax service. Elder Dickerson had a special passion for small country churches and traveled extensively visiting many throughout America.

He attended Valdosta High School and graduated from Georgia Military Academy in 1947, attended Emory Junior in Valdosta and graduated from Emory University in 1951. Mr. Dickerson served in the United States Air Force for 4 years during the Korean conflict.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Fulwood Dickerson of Valdosta, his daughter and son in law, Cary D. and Steve Wood of Adel, two sons and one daughter in law, Alva Glenn Dickerson of Mayfield, KY and Robert S. and Kathy Dickerson of Austell, GA, 3 grandchildren, Julie W. Wardwell (Rich) of Adel, Stephanie W. Hortman (Jason) of Watkinsville, GA and Ross Dickerson of Austell, GA, one step grandson, Ben Walters of Austell, three great grandchildren, Davis and Anne Wardwell of Adel and Charles S. Hortman of Watkinsville, GA.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at eleven a. m. at Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Elder Jim Smith, Elder Lynwood Davis, Elder Dwight Marshall, Elder Thad Marshall and Elder Jim Sandlin will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 8 p. m. Contributions may be made to Cat Creek Church or flowers will be accepted. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home -
