Mr. Andrew "Red" "Wren" Franklin Allison, age 84, of Ratcliff, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at his home. Mr. Allison was born July 20, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the son of Albert Ray and Lydia Christine Allison and was the 3rd of 5 brothers born to this union. His family moved to Texas when Red was 8 years old. He attended Jeff Davis High School in Houston. He married Catherine Elizabeth Harper on May 18, 1947. Mr. Allison worked for the Houston National Gas Company for 15 years. He retired and moved to Ratcliff, Texas in 1973. Mr. Allison worked for the Texas Department of Corrections for 20 years where he reached the rank of Assistant Warden serving over the prison store. He got his nickname from two sides of the family. Mr. Allison's wife's side of the family called him "Wren", but he was known as "Red" to his family. It sometimes caused confusion as to what to call him. He was a member of the Kennard First Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher over the Class of Neimiah for 39 years and also worked with the youth on Wednesday nights. Mr. Allison loved his church and loved to be in church. He stayed long after church services cleaning up and locking doors. Mr. Allison also served on the Water Board for the Ratcliff Water System. He loved to hunt, fish and loved spending time with his family. Mr. Allison spent hours each week calling and checking on family members across the USA.
Survivors include wife of almost 66 years, Catherine Elizabeth Harper Allison of Ratcliff; daughters, Edna Christine Allison Vrana Thomas and husband, Perry of Royce City, Andrea Kathleen Allison Hill and husband, Ronald Dean of Kennard; son, Michael Keith Allison and wife, Barbara of Crockett; grandchildren, Audra Hill, Tess Tusberg, Elizabeth Richards, Rebecca Parker, Danny Vrana, John Vrana, Matthew Allison, Rachel Groves, Shandi Stephens, Caitlin Cook, Donna Green, Michael Jackson and Brooke Jackson; great-grandchildren, Alisha, Cody, Joshua, Sabrina, Rachel, Christopher, Brandie, Marissa, Justin, Shelby, Jaysie, Miller, Chloe, Callie, Gunner, Christian, Macy, Grady and Matti; great-great-grandchild, Michael; brothers, James "Jimmy" Allison and wife, Wanda of Plain Community, Paul E. Allison and wife, JoAnn of The Woodlands; friends of 70 years, Charles and Inge Hunter; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lydia Allison; daughter, Sondra Kay Allison; grandson, Ronald Clinton Hill; son-in-law, Louis Vrana; brothers, Raymond Keith Allison and Albert Ray Allison, Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Andrew "Red" "Wren" Franklin Allison will be held Monday, May 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kennard First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Durham officiating. Interment will follow in the Conner Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kennard First Baptist Church.

Paisley Renee' Groves was born at 7:40a.m on July 20th, weighing 8 pounds 8 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long. Today is also my Grandpa Allison's Birthday and I know he was watching over us and smiling down from heaven.|
