He was a Carter County, Tenn., native and lived in Erwin several years before entering the service. He was a son of the late Stakes and Sally Bailey Adkins.
Mr. Adkins was retired from the Army, having served in World War II, the Korean War and the Far East Command.
He was a member of James Strickland Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5809, Erwin.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
