Elwood--Mrs Mary Copeland, 53, 2336 No. B St., died at Mercy Hospital at 11:25 a.m. Sunday after having been ill since May 1.
The body was taken to Clark Chapel where friends may call. Rites will conducted in the Wesleyan Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Ewart Talley of First Methodist Church and the Rev Lester Lockard of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. Burial will be in Knox Chapel Cemetery at Point Isabel. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Surviving are the husband, Floyd Copeland, Elwood; one daughter, Mrs Ellen Katherine Shell, Northern Japan; a son, John Robert Hillard, in naval service, stationed at Oakland, Calif; two brothers, James T. Davis, Elwood; and Oliver S. Davis, Point Isabel; and five grandchildren.
Mrs Copeland was born in Elwood April 9 1907 a daughter of Mr and Mrs John Davis. She was first married to Omer Hillard and late to Earl Powell, both now deceased. Her third marriage was to Mr. Copeland.
Mrs Copeland was a practical nurse here for many years and was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, the Eagles and Moose Lodge Auxiliaries.
