The Gatesville Messenger, August 15, 1957:

Walter D. Brown Dies in Fort Worth

Walter David Brown, who was
reared in Coryell County and who
formerly resided in Gatesville, died
last week in a Fort Worth hospital.
Mr. Brown, who had been ill for
several weeks, would have been
70 years old Sept. 17.
Burial was in a Fort Worth
cemetery.
Surviving Mr. Brown are a daughter,
Mrs. C. E. McCafferty of
Claremont, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs.
Nora McBride and Mrs. Hurl McClellan,
both of Gatesville; three
brothers, Charles Brown of Abilene,
Bob Brown of Amarillo and
Tom Brown of San Angelo; and a
number of nieces and nephews.

On 1910 Dill, Kiowa Co, OK Census as a boiler maker.

Walter married Edith Mask in 1912 in Hobart, OK.

Daughter Imogene was born in Hobart, OK, 27 August 1914.

On a WW I draft registration, dated Sept 12, 1918, Walter was living in Hobert, Kiowa Co, OK, as a mechanic, with his wife Edith.

On the 1920 Hobart, Kiowa County, OK census, Walter & Edith were listed, he as a mechanic, with their child Imogene.

Walter is listed on the 1930 Oklahoma City, OK census as "Jack" ( a mechanic, correct age, birthplace, parents' birthplaces), along with Edith & Imogene (correct ages & birthplaces). They are living with Edith's mother's widowed sister, Cora L. Traweek, Edith's sister & brother-in-law, Luther & Virgie Copeland & their baby Joyce.

On the 1940 Oklahoma City, OK census, Walter is listed as 'Jack', living with Edith, and a boarder. It states they were living in the same place in 1935.

On his 1942 WWII Registration card , Walter is living in Fort Worth, TX, working as a mechanic at a garage at 607 1/2 Commerce Street. His closest contact was his sister Nora. No use of right arm is noted on the card.

Walter is listed as widowed on his death certificate.
