James G. Bracken was the son of Hugh and Ruth Bracken and brother of Hugh Jr., John Jay, Maureen and Robert. He graduated from Passaic High School in Passaic, NJ in 1962 and after high school he studied mortuary science, but never completed his studies. In the 1960's he lived in San Francisco for a time and then New York City.
In 1972 he moved to West Paterson, NJ with his wife Debbie, where he spent the rest of his life. Their marriage ended in divorce several years later.
Jimmy was a professional photographer who specialized in shooting publicity 8 x 10 glossies for actresses and models, as well as newspaper and magazine ads. For many years he was also a photo lab technician for the Daily Record in Rockaway N.J. and the North Jersey Press in Clifton, N.J.
He was affectionately known as "Uncle Jimmy" even to those who were unrelated to him. It started out as a joke, but to his chagrin, the name stuck.
Jimmy loved to travel and was interested in German culture and visited Germany a number of times. He was also proud of his Irish ancestry and visited Ireland a few years before his death.
An avid skier, Jimmy could be found on the slopes of Vermont nearly every winter and also spent time skiing the Rockies and the Alps. In the summer he could be found riding his bicycle throughout the northeast and later in his life when slowed by his illness, spending time in Brookdale Park in Bloomfield with his beloved German Shepherd, "Shep".
Jimmy was noted for his taste in fine wines, imported beer, good cigars and single malt scotch, as well as his eclectic taste in music.
He passed away after a courageous 10 year battle with multiple meyeloma.
