Though he always felt a definite connection to California, his heart and his home were in TEXAS. Rocky was a loving, kind and extremely giving man, ALWAYS HELPING OTHERS... & HE LOVED LIFE! Some of his favorite things in life, other than family of course, were gardening, decorating for the holidays, antique/thrift store &/or garage sale shopping and playing card or board games with family/friends. He enjoyed cooking for his huge family (MUCH LIKE OUR MOTHER). He was a wonderful cook and decorator, he had a way of turning simple things into a feast, for either the eye or the tummy. There's just no way to speak of Rocky and not mention his natural born/God given talent. He was incredibly gifted, on both piano & organ (He could... & WOULD, rock a Hammond B3 with a Leslie speaker all night long). He always loved playing keyboard for his family & friends & we loved hearing him play. We were in awe. Needless to say he loved music, anything jazzy & soulful... especially something with the piano &/or organ featured. Don't get me wrong, he absolutely adored those good old southern gospel greats. His taste in music was very eclectic, anything from Burton Cummings & Phoebe Snow, Vince Gill & Dolly Parton, Aaron Neville & Elvis Presley to Andre Crouch & The Happy Goodman Family. Simply put... ROCKY LOVED GOOD MUSIC!

He was born to William David Gregory & Nellie Ruth Love, one of their beloved 8 children, the youngest of their 3 sons. He had five sisters and each of us (well, all of his siblings) simply adored him. Rocky was SO entertaining and loved to make people laugh. He was most always warm & friendly, but beware of getting on his bad side. lol Not a wise thing to do for sure. He loved his country and he loved his family and you didn't dare to mess with either & he was quick to make that known. Anyone who knew Rocky knew of his dry, but hysterical sense of humor. He had an incredibly quick wit... never unarmed. lol He was so much like Mama and we all know she was the Queen of 'zingers', saying that he made her quite proud, would be putting it mildly : )

Rocky was such a multifaceted man, he could be so smooth and polished in some areas and a bit rough/abrasive in others. I suppose that's just a small part of what made him so unique... TRULY AN ORIGINAL! Even so, Rocky had an uncanny way of putting people at ease, always quick to WELCOME you in & make you feel that you've always been A PART... hmmm... a part of something VERY SPECIAL... JUST LIKE HIM.
