Mrs. Callie Kidd, 85, died at her home in Tyrone, Jan. 7. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benton Quillen who moved to Texas county in 1897. The family located near Tyrone and played an important part in much of the pioneering in that section. She was married to Wm. E. Kidd in 1897. Mr. and Mrs. Kidd were in the mercantile business at Tyrone for several years and were prosperous farmers. Mr. Kidd died in 1924. She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Myrtle McKinney of Tyrone and Mrs. Dana Lay of Raymondville; a son, Walt, of Pasadena, Calif.; a brother, Bob . Quillen; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Tyrone Baptist Church with Mrs. Ray Miles officiating. Burial was at the Tyrone cemetery.
