Peter Joseph "Pete" Demmer
Birth: Sep. 17, 1882
San Antonio
Bexar County
Texas, USA
Death: Jul. 1, 1962
Bakersfield
Kern County
California, USA

Peter Joseph was my paternal step-grandfather and a wonderful, kind, loving man. He worked in the Oil Fields; and was a Tinner for Red Star Milling Co. in Wichita, Kansas in 1934. They moved from Kansas to Houston, Texas because that's where the jobs were. Then he went to California to work in the oil fields for better money and we lost track of him. My grandmother refused to move because the youngest daughter was attending College to become a nurse; so every week he sent his paycheck except for $25, which he used for rent, food, tobacco for his pipe, etc.. When grandpa died his brother Isidor made all the arrangements for services and found a letter I had written among grandpa's belongings; so he drove down to Orange County to notify us of grandpa's death. That was a very thoughtful thing to do or we would have never known.
Grandpa Pete was buried 16 July 1962.

Grandpa, just want to thank you for loving me and keeping me safe when I got scared. Wish we had gotten to see more of you. Rest in peace until we meet again. Love you.
