Rev. Joe Benningfield died at his home in the South Bennett Community at noon. He moved from Arkansas to Johnson County in 1866. He was located in what is now Mills County in 1876 and remained here until his death. He was a preacher in the Methodist Church for a number of years, but for the last few years, he had preached the doctrine of the Congregationalists. He leaves six children, all grown. He was an honorable man.
