OBITUARY - TIMES RECORD - FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS - MONDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2012

Glenn Franklin Briley, 92, of Van Buren died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, in a local nursing home. He was a railroad engineer for Missouri Pacific Railroad for 40 years. He was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren, the Van Buren Masonic Lodge and the VFW Lodge. He was a veteran of World War II who served in New Guinea, New Britain and the Philippines, a recipient of five Battle Stars and a member of the 3rd Engineer Special Brigade. He retired at the rank of tech sergeant in the Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clessie Carr Briley, four brothers and one sister.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.

He is survived by one daughter, Glenda Jackson of Van Buren; one son, Gary Briley of Ozark; one brother, Leonard Briley of Ada, Okla.; one sister, Beulah Donnely of Kennewick, Wash.; four grandchildren, Michael Jackson, Kellie Jackson, Monica Henson and Jill Briley; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one stepgranddaughter, Emily Myers.

Pallbearers will be church members, Benton Cone, David Moore, Dorvan Wiley, John Boster, Darrel Shook, James Crowley and John Parochka.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Heritage United Methodist Church Tuesday morning men's group and Van Buren Masonic Lodge members.

The family will visit with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 700 Jefferson St. in Van Buren.

Memorials may be made to the Food Pantry or Building Fund at Heritage United Methodist Church, 1604 E. Pointer Trail, Van Buren, AR 72956.
