Parents: Samuel David and Zazel Castillo Akin.
As a child, Jerry and his parents moved to Glide, Oregon. After graduating from Glide High School, Jerry joined the U.S. Navy. His military service included time on the USS Kittyhawk as a rescue diver. He also spent time on an icebreaker.
Upon being honorably discharged, Jerry became a house painter for several years until he found his favorite job in the Facilities Dept. at Hewlitt Packard. He moved his wife and family to Woodinville, Washington.
Jerry became an avid fan of classic cars and he loved his Model A. He continued his membership in the Model A Club of America, Evergreen Chapter until his death.
When the marriage ended and he retired, Jerry returned to Oregon.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. His suvivors include his son, Jerry Palmer Akin, Jr., daughter Janet (Jeff) Shaboan, his grandchildren, Hannah and Jack, and three sisters.
