Addie Posey Adair, 100, died Sunday, April 25, 2010, at her residence in Hamilton. A lifelong resident of Monroe County, she was born Nov. 22, 1909, to Fair Posey and Rebecca Jane Malone Posey in Monroe County. She retired as a teacher at Hamilton School after 35 years of teaching, including 14 years as a principal. She was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 71 years. She was a member of Town and Country Home Demonstration Club, and was on the Hamilton Library Board. She was honored by Center Hill Baptist Church on the occasion of her 100th birthday, which was featured on WCBI TV. She was one of the last children of a Civil War veteran.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. today at Center Hill Baptist Church in Hamilton with Bro. Terry Edwards, Bro. James Towery and Bro. Larry Maugh officiating. Burial will be in Center Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane Adair Owens and husband, John, of Hamilton; two grandchildren, Lann Owens and Meg Owens Burns; and one great-grandchild, Olivia Addie Owens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lamar Lomax "Mac" Adair; two brothers, Ambrose Posey and Bill Posey; three sisters, Cora Kendrick, Irma Crump and Mary Posey; and many nieces and nephews.
