Jacob J. Boese, 90, died Feb. 21 at Regency Health Care Center in Hoisington. Born March 9, 1897, in Alexander, he had been a resident of Hoisington since 1922. He married Mabel Whipple July 27, 1919, in Alexander. He was a retired locomotive painter for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad.
Boese was a member of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and World War I Barracks, both of Great Bend and La Crosse.
He was a member of the American Legion in Hoisngton and Modern Woodman, He was a World War I Army Veteran,
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Elton of Ellinwood and Kenneth of Manhattan; two brothers, Bill of Great Bend and Herman of Iola; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church with Elders Roy Julius and Kenneth Ingram officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday and 9 a.m. until noon, Wednesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington, and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church of Regency Health Care Center.
