Born in Austria, Margaret married her first husband, Joseph Newmeier before leaving Europe with him and daughter Catherine. The family made their way to central Wisconsin where Joseph died in 1873 leaving her with three children. Margaret married John Carl and had at least four more children with him. After John died in 1889 Margaret was married to Frank Digman for a short time.
