Daniel Chapman was a Revolutionary War Soldier. In his pension papers, he stated his birth date as listed here. The monument in the cemetery is not the original in his original place of burial. His grave was moved to it's current location and a new stone with the incorrect dates was erected here.
Daniel married Lucretia Finch on 10/25/1788 in Duchess County, New York. They had 11 children there and then came to Johnson County circa 1818. Some of the children came with them and are buried here.
Daniel was the 6th of 12 children of Elijah and Sarah Steele Chapman of Connecticut.
The local DAR Chapter is named for Daniel Chapman.
