Eugene Rapin Andrews

The death of Eugene Rapin Andrews occurred at his home at the corner of Eagle and Elm streets in Cooperstown, Saturday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, following an illness of about three weeks of kidney trouble, although he had been a sufferer for some time before he was confined to his bed.

Mr. Andrews was born at Albany, December 29th, 1867, and went to Schenevus to reside when a young man. There he was employed in the jewelry business. In 1889 he married Miss Minnie Saxton of Middlefield and one year afterward they went to Chicago to reside. While in Chicago Mr. Andrews was employed in a wholesale jewelry house. From Chicago Mr. Andrews returned to Otsego County and has since resided here with the exception of three years when he was employed in the General Electric works at Schenectady. As a young man he learned the machinist's trade and during his later years he was engaged in that calling. For some time preceding his death he had been employed as machinist by the Arthur H. Crist Co., of Cooperstown.

The following relatives beside the wife survive; A stepfather, James T. Welton and a stepsister, mrs. James W. Colley of Elkhart, Ind., one sister, Mrs. Niles Cornish of Charlotte, N.Y., one son, James and two daughters Florence and Marjorie.

The deceased was a member of the Cooperstwon Universalist church and of the Otego Lodge I.O.O.F. He was a devoted husband and father and his family have the sincere sympathy of all their many friends here in their bereavement.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the house, the Rev. W. G. Cortright officiating, assisted by the Rev. Albert Clarke. Interment was amde at Flycreek the Odd Fellows taking entire charge of the ceremonies at the grave.
