Although it is no longer legible, investigation revealed that this is the headstone of William and his wife Sarah. The book "Memories of Carlisle's Old Graveyard", pg. 49, lists in order the headstone in this lot and this is conclusively their headstone. In 1898 when the cemetery was transcribed, the headstone read as follows:
Sacred to the memory of William Blair, Junr., who departed this life Mch. 21-1792 - 32 y. Also of Sarah Blair, wife of "Wm. Blair, Junr., who departed this life June 9-1827 - 64 y.

William was likely born in either Lancaster Co., PA where his parents were married 5 years earlier or in Carlisle, PA where he and his family lived for most of their lives. The year the family relocated from Lancaster Co. to Carlisle is not yet known, but it was certainly before 1784, when William married Sarah Holmes, 24 Jun 1784 in Carlisle. Sarah's family moved to Carlisle in 1740.
William and Sarah had 4 children, all listed below before his early death in 1792 at the age of 32. Their two older surviving children were placed under the care of their grandfather William Sr. in Carlisle and Andrew and his younger brother Henry Cowen, lived with their mother at the home of her father, Andrew Holmes, about two miles south of Carlisle.
His son Andrew stated, "father was a man of unblemished character and much respected, but died in possession of little of this world's goods." Andrew never knew his father personally, so his words were likely those of his mother and grandparents.
