[Leander] Edward Devoll, Sr., was born near Newark, Licking, O., August 13, 1830 and died at his home in Grafton, Neb., January 16, 1906. Of these four sons and four daughters, together with the wife and mother, survive the husband and father. Mr. Devoll removed with his family from Ohio to Illinois in 1855, thence to Nebraska, thence to Iowa, thence to Illinois, thence to Grafton, Neb., about eight years ago, which latter place remained his home until death.
In early life, he worked on a canal and later followed farming. The funeral occurred Thursday forenoon, January 18, and was attended by the widow and all living children, with the exception of one son. Appropriate excercises were held at the house, conducted by Rev. J.B. Whylie, the United Brethren pastor at Luston. The young minister delivered a very impressive and comforting discourse. Interment was in the GRAFTON CEMETERY.
