Earl William Byers was born on Thursday 23 Sep 1920 in Buckley to Ralph Clyde & Nina Eva (Hankins) Byers. He married Mary Jane Christopher on Friday 12 Nov 1943 in San Francisco, California. He worked for Parsons Corporation in Traverse City until his retirement in Jan 1946 as a result of a disability. He served in the 11th Armored Division of the US Army in World War II.
Earl William Byers of Buckley died Friday morning 18 Feb 1972 at the age of 51 y 4 m 26 d at Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital in Traverse City after a two month illness. Survivors include his wife Mary Jane Hankins; 2 sons, James Byers of Waukegon, Illinois, and Donald W Byers of Buckley; 3 daughters, Sharon & Harold Smith of Grawn, Patricia and Bonnie Byers at home in Buckley; his parents, Ralph & Nina Byers of Buckley; 1 brother, Roy Raymond & Mary Jane Byers of Buckley and 3 grandchildren.
Visitation was anytime Friday 18 Feb 1972 at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Kingsley. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Tuesday 21 Feb 1972 at the Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev Fred Marsh officiating. Burial was in the Mesick-Sherman Memorial Cemetery in Mesick. He was buried in Plot A-42 which was owned by Ralph Byers. His stone says Dad; PFC, Co E, 357 Infantry, World War II.
