Mary H. Anderson 85, 530 Edgerton, died May 27, 1994, at St. Mary Hospital. She was born Aug. 15, 1908, in Scranton and had been a Manhattan resident since 1941. She taught at Woodrow Wilson and Lee schools, and retired in 1973.
A graduate of the University of Kansas with a major in history, she received her teacher's degree from Emporia State College. She received her master's degree in childhood education from Kansas State University.
She was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and Business and Professional Women's Club. She was secretary of Manhattan Teachers' Credit Union and worked with the U.S.O. in Manhattan during World War II.
Survivors include two sisters, Teresa Griffin, of the home, and Edna Lombard, Topeka; two brothers, William A. "Billy" Anderson, Lawrence, and Leo Joseph Anderson, San Diego, Calif.; two nieces and a nephew, four great-nephews and two great-nieces.
Rosary and Christian wake service will be a 7 p.m. Monday at Edwards-Yorgensen-Meloan Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Seven Dolors Catholic Church with the Father Larry Grennan as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peters Cemetery in Big Springs with Father Mike Scully officiating.
