Wamba was a community about 8 miles outside of Texarkana, Texas when Bill was born.
Began working as a night auditor for a hotel while he was in high school in Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto County, Texas.
Career included :
- Joining the 124th US Cavalry mounted band playing the French Horn and the E-Flat Alto as a private.
- Subsequently, he became a US Army officer, then transferred to the Air Force.
- During his military service to his country, he was stationed in the following places : Texas ; Saudi Arabia ; Eritrea ; Alabama ; Morocco ; The Pentagon ; Germany & England. After he retired from the military, he continued to serve his country as a civiliam living in England, Germany, & Maryland. When he retired from the Department of Defense, he and his wife and one son moved to California. Later they all moved back to Texas where the other two children and most of their relatives lived.
- In addition to the places they lived, he and his wife traveled enthusiastically to learn about many cultures and places.
On 07 December 1941, Bill made his first solo aircraft landing just as the announcement came to those standing nearby, that Pearl Harbor had been bombed.
