James Madison dingler was the oldest child of William and Phebe "Hays" Dingler. He fought in the Civil War with Co. D of the 34th Alabama Infantry, enlisting in Talladega County, Alabama. Before the war he was living in Tallapoosa County, Ala. After the war, he and his family settled in Chambers County, Alabama. They lived there until 1881, when they moved to Pike County, Ark. James and Lucy lived the rest of their lives in Pike County, Ark.
