Ripley, Oct. 24--When a shotgun he attempted to pull from a grape truck caught on a slat and was discharged, Henry James Kline, 18 years old, living just west of here, sustained injuries that resulted in his death a few hours later at Hamot Hospital, Erie, PA. The lad's side was torn away by the charge from the weapon and medical science was powerless altho every effort was made to save him, including blood transfusion.
Young Kline, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kline, operate a grape farm on the state road west of Ripley, placed the gun in the truck and then drove off to the vineyard. In pulling the gun from the truck it caught on a projection and exploded, the charge entering the boy's side. He was rushed to the hospital but it was hopeless. He died at 4 pm. Henry Kline was a graduate of Ripley High School, Class of 1926, and was well liked by all who knew him and his untimely death is greatly mourned. His father is an invalid and the shock has proved a severe strain upon him. Besides his parents the deceased is survived by a young sister. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 3:30 pm., Rev. A.T. Fox of the Baptist church officiating. Burial will be in the State Line cemetery.
