SANDRA LUCILLE "MAMA" ROBICHEAU
Jan.31, 1925 - March 25, 2008
Mama was born in Seattle, Wash., where she lived with her mother, Hazel and her grandparents. In 1943, at the age of 18, she moved to San Francisco where she was a waitress until she went to work for the phone company.
While working for the USO in 1952, she met and soon married injured war veteran Chuck Robicheau. Together they had five children, Michele, Bryce, Antonia, Curt and Ramey, Born between 1954 and 1961. In 1921, they divorced and Mama took over the duties of rising five Robicheaus.
Mama was a tireless and selfless woman who poured out all she had to care for us while working full-time and taking care of our home where she lived until her passing last Tuesday, March 25.
She worked for the FSUSD at Crescent School for 27 years as a beloved teacherís aide to kindergartners and first graders. In the summers, you would see Mrs.R at the Fairfield Plunge/Allen Witt Swim Center where she worked as a cashier for over 20 years. Mama was civic-minded as she was PTA president and treasurer for the Fairfield Seahorse Swim Team.
Mama loved to travel and was able to see Hawaii, many countries in Europe, Mexico, and many states here in the U.S.A. Another one of Mama's favorite things to do was to work in the flower beds around her house.
Mama was loved by so many in the community because of her example of courage and strength, and her amazing zest for life. If you knew her and would like to pay your respects and maybe share some stories with us, we will be having a memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 1 2008, at Bryan-Baker Funeral Home. There will be a reception afterwards at the Hilton Garden Inn, 2200 Gateway Court, at Highway 80 and Travis Boulevard, in Fairfield.
