Oakie Boyd was the husband of Virginia (Yates) Boyd and the son of James Hollie and Gracie (Thomas) Boyd.

Oakie was a native of Little Fox Creed area of Vansant, VA. He was a US ARmy. Veteran of World War II and retired from the Tennessee Valley River Authority. He was a Baptist by faith. Oakie and his wife Virginia had one son, Joseph Wayne and two daughters, Linda Sue (Sharp) and Jacqueline Oakley (Chirolo).

BURIED: He is buried in the Boyd Family Cemetery on Little Fox Creek, Vansant, VA. Clergy officiating were: Rev. Milton Boyd, Rev. Lester Boyd, Rev. Clyde Lambert and Rev. Avis Ratliff (his nephew).

Uncle Oakie, I miss my wild and crazy uncle. I'll never forget your recipe for grilling...and how you could make those coals sizzle. It's funny the memories that stick in our mind. I can't wait to hear all your stories in Heaven... Miss you much!
