Anne was the wife of Joseph John Black and the daughter of Robert Stephen and Lillie Evelyn Knowlton Black.

Annie published a book of her Poems "Candles For Dark Days", Copyright 1961, Annie L. Black, Globe Printing Company, New Wilmington, Pa. A sample of one of the poems:

"Thoughts In May" I've seen Sun Flowers blooming in Kansas, and Blue Bonnets on a Texas plain; I've seen Magnolias down in New Orleans, and Azeleas in a Carolina rain; But, flora scent that treats my eyes 'till it sets my soul in rhyme, I'll take a country lane in Ohio in Crab Apple blossom time.
