At age 38, he married a socialite from New York who was from "Old Family in Albany".
At age 38, he began exhibiting signs of mental illness (such as his mother before him). He had become a commerical pilot after the war. On a shuttle flight, his co-pilot noticed Frank talking and mumbling to himself. To preserve his safety and that of the passengers, the co-pilot took over operations and landed the flight. Frank was removed from the plane in a straight jacket and hospitalized for mental illness. He never recovered. He was placed at the same hospital as his mother.
Frank and his two brothers had reached a prior agreement to "Never have children" to cease the passing on of the mental illness.
