Entered railway service 1872 as telegraph operator Detroit & Milwaukee Ry, since which he has been consecutively to 1876, operator, agent and dispatcher same road and Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Ry in Michigan; 1876 to 1878, engaged in mining business in Colorado; 1879 to 1884, superintendent various mining companies in Colorado and Montana; 1884 to 1889, chief clerk machinery department Northern Pacific Rd at Sprague, Wash.; 1889 to Feb. 1, 1893, chief clerk to superintendent Idaho division same road; Feb. 1, 1903, to date, superintendent same division
