RUTHVEN MAN DIED SATURDAY
Godfrey Abbey died at his home near Ruthven, Saturday morning, February 6, at 6:30 o'clock. A heart attack was the cause of death. Mr. Abbey had been confined to his bed for the past week, critically ill.
Funeral services were conducted in the home at one o'clock and in Ayrshire at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. V. J. Kollman, pastor of the church, officiated.
The deceased was born in Berne, Switzerland, on Februry 13, 1878 and died at the age of 58 years, 11 months and 21 days. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on April 14, at the age of 2 months and 1 day.
Mr. Abbey was the youngest of six children of whom all survive him. At the tender age of four he came to this country with his parents and settled at Hills, Iowa, and later came to Palo Alto county where he followed the vocation of farming, in the vicinity of Curlew, Ayrshire and Ruthven.
On December 11, 1907, he was united in marriage to Miss Maude Fisher at Hills, Iowa. Seven children were born to this union. One child died in infancy.
The living children are Sam, Robert, Rosella, Wilford, Joe, who live at home and Mrs. LeRoy Bowman of Ayrshire.
Interment was in the family lot in Rush Lake cemetery, south of Curlew.
The many friends of Mrs. Abbey and children and to the brothers and sisters of Hill, Iowa extend their sincere sympathy to the sorrowing family.
