Violet H. Backman , 85, of RD 3, County Route 3, died Thursday at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton .
Mrs. Backman was born in Fulton and was a life resident of the Fulton -Hannibal area. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Hannibal. She retired from the Nestle Co. in Fulton in 1970 after 40 years of employment. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fulton B.P.O.E. No. 830.
Surviving are her husband, Stanley (Sam) Backman ; a son, Robert Hall of Fulton ; a brother, Leo Besaw of Hannibal; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of the Rosary Church with the Rev. Mortiz Fuchs officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Fulton .
