When she was 4, on July 8, 1904, her, her mother, and her four siblings, left England to go meet up with her father in Riverton, Sangamon, Illinois. They arrived in New York on July 16, 1904 and moved to Riverton, Sangamon, Illinois. She later met a man named Beryl Theopolis Ison, and married him on July 11, 1921. They had 5 children together, Beryletta, Charles Covell, Phyllis Lavern, Betty Jane, and Donna Jean Ison. She died at the age of 81 on June 17, 1982 in Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois. She was buried on June 19, 1982 in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery next to her husband Beryl Ison.
