Mr. App died at his home, 67 North Liberty street, last night, after a serious illness of two weeks.
Mr. App was born in Richfield, Pa., on May 11, 1866 and came to Dixon, IL. in 1887 and to Elgin in 1904. Elgin has been his home ever since, except for two years 1907 and 1908 when the family lived in Mason City, Iowa.
He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Cornelia S. (Auman)App; four daughters Mrs. Mary E. (Ralph M.) Andrews, of Aurora, Miss Emma App of Elgin, Mrs. Kathryn (John) Ballman, of Bartlett,and Miss Dorothy App of Elgin. Three sons Earl R. App of Aurora, Bernard A. App of Sandusky, Ohio and Asa S. App of Elgin, six grandchildren; Shirley, Robert and Caroline Andrews, Lucille App, Robert App, and Barbara Ballman; his mother-in-law Mrs. Emma C. (Dennis)Auman and many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his father John Gross App, his mother Mary Louisa Showers Reading, his step-father William W. Reading, a son William Wilson App in 1903 and a granddaughter Kathryn Marie Andrews, his father-in-law Wilson E. Auman
Mr. App was a member of Elgin lodge No. 117, A. F. and A. M. and was a past master of the Masonic lodge at Dixon. He was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church of Elgin.
Pallbearers were; O. B. Ashman, L. E. Burkett, Charles Rossow, James Crawford, Clarence Sanders and Harry Payson, all were members of the Rinehimer organization, and all members of the Masonic order.
